Did you know that Land 8… lets you create your own customized maps?

After a successful first edition, we continue today with our “Did you know that Land 8…?” section, presenting you with a very useful and important function: creating your own custom map of a particular area with the new Land 8. In addition to being practical, it’s a very simple function!

The creation of the map of a particular area with Land 8 can be carried out based on any map that is not copyright-protected. However, with on-line maps it is especially useful, because they are very large maps that give you lots of possibilities when it comes to choosing the area you need. Land 8 offers a selection of online maps of different countries and types (topo, ortho, OSM …) that opens up a huge range of possibilities.

The steps for the creation of your custom map are:

1- Open the online map (or any other raster map that does not have a copyright)

1-land

2- Activate the selection tool.

3- Select the area and click on “Create new map for this area”.

4- If you have files loaded as waypoints, routes or tracks, you can choose whether you want them to be superimposed on the resulting map.

5- Give it a name and select the format (we recommend rmap, for its performance and compatibility with all platforms).

6- Wait (it can take hours if you have chosen a very large area).

7- Now you have a new new map that does not require a connection to function and that you can place on your TwoNav!
