For sure this is a frequent question while preparing your itineraries!The eternal dilemma has arisen: do I prepare a long route, or would it be better to shorten it a bit?
Now with LAND 9 it is not necessary to choose, you can plan a route and add variants to it, that is, detours, alternative paths or optional visits to a point of interest. In this way, when you go out to explore it, you will choose which path to follow according to the circumstances of that moment with the security of not improvising, you yourself will have planned the variants of the route.
To create variants on a track, follow these steps:
1 – Open the track you want to edit.
2 – In the button bar, click the ‘Create/Edit track’ button.
3 – Open the context menu at the point where you want to start the diversion and press ‘Create variant’.
4 – Next, create the variant track segment point by point, using the usual vector editor tools.
5 – Repeat this action as many times as necessary..
6 – Once finished, press ‘Finish editing’.
7 – From this moment on, your itinerary will have variants and you will be able to choose which one is the main one.
Choose the active variant
Once you have created a track with variants, you must select which is the active variant. You can do it in different ways:
– From the deviation icon: Double click on the detour icon in the data tree or on the map window.
– Clicking on the inactive variant: Double click on the inactive variant in the data tree or on the map window.
Go out to navigate your track
How do you navigate a track with variants? Like any other track! You just have to press ‘Start > Follow a route’ and select your track with variants.
When you get close to a fork, TwoNav will show you the main road and a bypass. You choose which path you wanna take, as easy as pressing the window of the chosen variant.
